Chapter 117
Chapter 117
Liu Jian did as instructed, but his movements were awkward, like a clumsy penguin.
Lin Feng didn't laugh, but patiently taught him.
After half an hour of instruction, Liu Jian was able to perform the exercise twenty times in a row without losing his footing.
He stopped, panting, and looked at Lin Feng.
"Lin Feng, did you train like this back then?"
Lin Feng nodded.
Liu Jian looked at his own hand, then at Lin Feng's hand.
"How long did you train to get to this level?"
Lin Feng thought for a moment.
"Three months."
Liu Jian fell silent.
Then he said, "If I practice for three months, can I become like you?"
Lin Feng looked at him.
"Not necessarily," he said, "but it will definitely be better than it is now."
Liu Jian nodded, bent down to pick up the ball, and continued dribbling.
Zhou Jianguo finished throwing a set of balls and walked over.
He glanced at Liu Jian, then at Lin Feng.
"Your friend?"
Lin Feng nodded.
Zhou Jianguo didn't say anything, turned around and walked back to his position to continue shooting.
Liu Jianyun paused for a while, then looked at Zhou Jianguo.
"Who is that person?" he asked in a low voice.
Lin Feng said, "A friend of mine. He's a very accurate shooter."
Liu Jian glanced at it a few times, didn't dare to ask any more questions, and continued transporting the goods.
Sun Jianguo arrived at six o'clock after practice.
He saw Liu Jian and paused for a moment.
"Hey kid, you've taken on an apprentice?"
Lin Feng nodded.
Sun Jianguo walked over and looked Liu Jian up and down.
Liu Jian felt uneasy under his gaze and took a step back.
Sun Jianguo reached out and squeezed Liu Jian's arm.
"Too thin," he said, "thinner than you."
Liu Jian dared not speak.
Sun Jianguo turned to look at Lin Feng.
"Fine, you teach him. I don't care."
He walked to the sidelines and began warming up.
Lin Feng continued to teach Liu Jian.
I taught until seven o'clock, and then it was dawn.
The sun rose from the east, shining on the field and casting long shadows.
Lin Feng told Liu Jian to rest, and then threw fifty shots himself.
Liu Jian sat on the cement platform, watching him throw the ball, his eyes unblinking.
After Lin Feng finished casting, he stood up and said something.
"Lin Feng, you're really amazing."
Lin Feng didn't say anything, and bent down to pick up the ball.
"Are you coming again tomorrow?" he asked.
Liu Jian nodded.
"Come."
Chapter 35 New Orders
After school on Monday, Lin Feng went to Liu Jian's house.
Liu Jian's father was in the living room. When he saw him come in, he smiled and waved.
"Kobayashi, there's a letter for you."
He picked up a stack of letters from the coffee table and handed them to him.
Lin Feng took them and counted them. Twelve letters.
He sat down and began to open the letters one by one.
Eight of the emails were for software purchases—some wanted PKZIP, some wanted WinZIP, and others asked if there was a Chinese version of Norton Commander.
Two of the letters were from people who read articles in Computer Weekly and wanted to learn Chinese localization from him.
One of the emails was from an organization that said they needed a set of accounting software and asked if it could be customized.
There was another letter, in a thick, high-quality kraft paper envelope, with a logo printed on it—a blue globe—and below it, the words "Beichuan High-tech Development Zone".
Lin Feng opened it.
Inside was an A4 sheet of paper with a few lines of text printed on it:
"Mr. Lin Feng: Our company has learned that your localized software has received a positive response in the market, and we would like to discuss cooperation with you. If you are interested, please come to our company for a face-to-face meeting at 10:3 AM on March 5th. Address: 12th Floor, Chuangye Building, High-tech Development Zone, Beichuan City, Beichuan New Era Software Company. Contact Person: General Manager Wang."
Below is a phone number.
Lin Feng looked at the letter and read it twice.
Liu Jian's father leaned over and took a look.
"New Era Software Company?" His eyes lit up. "That's the biggest software company in Beichuan. I heard they made several million in business last year."
