Chapter 1799 - 1798 - Celebration
The situation settled and the beasts began to have a massive party. Lind was almost amused how easily they moved on from the profound revelations to having fun.
Yet, it seemed the creation of a whole new species was an opportunity for them. New species would mean new possibilities!
The Dusk Grypwolf was also a blend of reptile and mammal bloodlines. It was quite possible the previously impossible mixing of bloodlines was now open.
Chu was such a beast but she had gained it from the refinement of her bloodline combined with his harmonic Qi. Since she was the only one of her kind, it would be her descendents that allowed such a possibility but with a far lower likelihood.
Ryl’s species, however, was likely to now be everywhere. It was even more reason to celebrate! Lind actually cracked a smile as he saw Sun dancing with various partners. His wives were quietly boring holes into his back but he wanted to drink in the sight a little longer.
Eventually, he took them each out and Ryl tried to trip them up when they did!
Still, it was all in fun. While there were many beverages across the spectrum of incapacitation, food was tactfully avoided as it was only Immortals and Divine Realm cultivators present.
After the dance, there was a general meet and greet for those that had not met in some time. The Master Tiers would normally be discussing the Dao after not seeing each other for millions or billions of years, yet that was not needed.
They had not only spent a lot of time during the war together but even afterward were staying more involved in the far more peaceful times they lived in.
Instead, the various Immortals and lower tier Divine Realm beasts were able to enjoy the lectures from their seniors.
Lind stayed out of it. He had lectured until he was hoarse. He focused on his newly opened vista of his next Mystery.
A name was all he had with a few feelings. It was more than he had before, yet it still felt like he was in the dark. Ryl did pay attention to a few lectures for some reason but he never spoke or came to Lind with questions.
He laid good odds the young Dusk Grypwolf enjoyed the sounds of their voices more than anything. The tail wagging kind of gave it away.
"Husband, you could take us away from her for our own celebration." Chu did not even hide her desire as she grabbed his arm firmly. He almost laughed and pointed at Ryl.
"Think of him as a toddler. What have our children always done at that age?" A smattering of giggles and smiles came from his wives. "Come to think of it, Jur–"
He was suddenly pinched hard as Kora shook with laughter.
Ethry then thought of something as was clear with the mischievous look on her face.
"Karu might be able to distract him if we called her here." Lind narrowed his eyes at her. He well knew Karu was far too busy with the other divine fox races as they were now being resettled as much as possible in compatible areas.
Unlike other beast bloodlines, they were highly sensitive to their surroundings. The kraken palace had those special spaces to maintain them. It had severe limits.
Given her connection to him, the other fox races were actually living a relatively safe existence. Beasts were not peaceful by nature when it came to their instincts.
Life and death went hana in hand for them. Still, hunting to extinction was not allowed. Part of the reason True and Divine Lords existed was to keep cultivators in line.
"How long will this go on?" Lind waved his hands across the party. It was open air but there were pavilions being erected in open grasslands outside the city walls.
Kora became serious at that question.
"It is called simply the Celebration. The word is insufficient but the birth of a new species is that important to us all. Many races that barely hold on may now find new protectors, hunters in need of new challenges will find true unknowns, and so much more." Lind began to grasp the reason for the party.
Race memory was an advantage for beasts in cultivation but it also robbed them of novel experiences. The need to feel the wonder of the unknown or overcoming odds became less common as they improved.
A new species changed everything. The Dusk Grypwolf was now also not alone the day it was born. How long before they ascended through the realms and reached the Divine Lands? Lind also realized that as Ryl grew stronger, he would face challengers.
His head locked onto Sun out of habit. The monkey was fair but the moment he smelled some fun in battle, he would be there. Given the habits of Ryl, Lind suspected he would answer in kind!
"I will make sure he is not a battle maniac. That is my line in the sand." His 3 wives smacked him lightly but understood. His history was clear about the subject.
"I heard a rumor, by the way. Something about a crazy duel to the death." Chu spoke up and a cold sweat suddenly broke out on Lind’s back. "Also about someone smiling while they fought with their bare fists."
He tried to slip away but Kora’s hands clamped onto his shoulder while Ethry was suddenly to his left. Chu had his right arm firmly still gripped.
He had told them about Luxor but had skipped over some of the details. He sighed as it was dragged out of him.
"It was not a fight for survival. It was not the totality of all creation riding on my shoulders. I have not had a fight where it was just me and another cultivator going all out because we could." He recalled the joy in her face. The feeling of all the responsibility falling from his shoulders happened at that moment.
His draconic blood rejoiced and he let it flow wildly with his racing heart.
Three pairs of arms suddenly hugged him.
[Qing will be happy to hear that. Shoti will be jealous. The others will be glad too.] Ethry’s voice was in his head. He looked confused but their gentle smiles were all he got back.
He recognized a Qing tactic when he saw it. The sounds of the Celebration continued as he pondered for a moment and realized what he had missed.
Ever since the Bastard died, the next battle loomed over him. The Original Bastard was still there. Just because they had breathing room, did not mean they were safe. If the other Eternal Realm cultivators could not hold him off or whatever rules no longer bound him, the Divine Lands were nothing to him.
Now, he felt free. His mind was unclouded with concerns and worries of what was waiting. Instead he was focused on helping Ryl explore his new existence and now his new Mystery!
"Was I that concerning to you all?" The 3 pairs of eyes bore into him and he smiled weakly back.
A ball of golden fur suddenly came crashing towards them. Out of instinct, all 4 manifested their Dao or Mystery Weapons. The crimson staff of Sun preceded him and was deflected with ease as he fell to the ground.
The powerful True Lord gouged out a decent trail before he was stopped by a spruce like tree. It was powerful enough to not budge when a Divine Realm hit it. The branches even thwacked Sun harshly before he could roll away.
Lind sighed as he looked over to see Aristrossa glaring at Sun with rage. What had that monkey done now? Was he going to burn down all that respect he had earned in the war?
Lind got up and none of his wives stopped him. Despite the annoyance, he felt happy. He felt like hope was rising in his own heart like it had not in a very long time.
He should enjoy such times more himself.

A massive dark mug was slammed down as the Kraken King laughed. He observed that strange emerald dragon as he mediated the foolish monkey and shen dispute.
He felt a tug on his lower robe and saw his daughter looking longingly at Lind. She had not run out as she would normally. She had finally begun to mature.
"You should let go, my dearest daughter. He helped you come into this world and because of that, he will not see you as you wish." He had a good grasp on Lind’s personality.
Generous to his allies and practically an open door to his friends or family. The most horrifying enemy one could have as well. Far too many took his focus on his professions or studies as a sign of a lack of fighting ability until it was too late.
The Fiends had thought they knew how tenacious he was, yet they were now extinct.
He sighed, almost extinct.
"Father–" He cut off her adorable voice. He was not born yesterday! She might have been spoiled too much at first, yet that time was over. Her eyes were watering inside her hood.
"He is not a bad man nor neglectful, yet just because you wish it, will not make it so. Lady Karu was an exception for many reasons. They share a special bond not even his other wives can claim." He knew more of the truth than others.
Lind had revealed a lot, but not exactly how much he and Karu had suffered. It made perfect sense why the harem approved of her. It was also why his daughter could not win.
It was too late. Lind’s path was to leave the Divine Lands. Expanding his family was no longer his choice. She was better but still too young to grasp that even for a Divine Realm, time was not on his side.
His current journey was proof of that enough.
Lind was not living or just training. He was looking for the way to the Eternal Realm and nothing could be allowed to stop him.
