Chapter 220 College Party (1)
Chapter 220 College Party (1)
Two weeks later, everything happened as expected. Ina and Aixia each received a letter containing an acceptance letter, a college badge, and an invitation to the admission dinner.
Ina sat at the desk, looking at the exquisite invitation. The letter paper was of high quality, with delicate patterns on the corners. It contained information such as the inviter, the location and time of the dinner, etc.
After looking at it for a while, Ina folded it and put it in her pocket. Another letter was already in her ring.
And when you arrive at the dinner, you will need to show the invitation.
"It's almost time. We can't let Asia send someone to rush us..."
Ina glanced out the window, watching the setting sun and the evening glow, then picked up the suitcase on the bed.
Inside was the dress that Aixia had chosen for her, as well as shoes and some accessories.
Generally, large dinner parties will prepare a dressing room for ladies to touch up their makeup, so as to avoid inconvenience caused to guests by wind, rain and snow.
It's still winter outside, and Ina doesn't want to suffer in vain.
Downstairs of the club that served as the Berleman branch, a dark brown painted carriage had already been parked on the side road waiting.
Ina opened the door of the carriage, and as expected, a warm breeze blew in her face.
I have to say, this is definitely the most popular design in winter... Ina sighed as she stepped onto the carriage with two passengers.
When the door closed, the wheels began to turn slowly forward, accompanied by the sound of whips and reins swinging in the wind and the neighing of horses.
"Sister Ina, maybe you should hire a maid."
Aixia looked at Ina who was carrying her suitcase onto the carriage, and suddenly made a serious suggestion.
"…I don't have that much money on me, I'll think about it later…"
Aixia's abrupt words made Ina stunned for a moment.
There were things that maids did, and she had never dared to think about it before, so she didn't react immediately.
I had no choice but to put the suitcase at my feet and come up with a lame excuse.
"A maid's weekly salary is only two silver francs. If accommodation and meals are provided, the salary can be even lower. When you go to the magic academy, Sister Ina, you can't waste your precious time cleaning the house and doing trivial things, right?"
Aixia further elaborated.
I don’t think cleaning the house and doing chores will take up too much time… Ina muttered to herself, but just maintained her usual smile.
In the cold wind at the end of winter, the carriage drove slowly towards its destination.
At six o'clock in the evening, the carriage arrived at the address specified in the invitation.
It has to be said that these are two institutions that do not receive special treatment in the kingdom.
The "Magic Pages" was still generous - they actually rented a private club that was in no way inferior to the Berleman Chamber of Commerce branch and used it as a dinner venue.
Even a large number of waiters and top chefs from the "Eloy's Golden Eagle" restaurant were temporarily hired for this banquet.
"Eloy's Golden Eagle" is one of the most famous and expensive top restaurants in Palmerine.
Ina and Aishia got off the carriage, and the maid followed with their suitcases.
The entrance to the club is a row of four arched doors with various gorgeous patterns and reliefs on the metal doors. The patterns are more refined than ordinary ones, as if they were specially customized for refining and processing factories.
The servants who were receiving guests at the door were lined up in pairs.
"Invitations please, ladies."
The welcoming attendant explained politely.
"Guests with invitations can also invite others, but each invitation is only for one person."
They each handed out their own invitations.
"Have a nice evening, Miss Berliman, Miss West."
After simply reviewing the invitation, the attendant quickly stepped aside to make way for the person to enter.
The entrance is the lobby where the club handles business. Like a general reception lobby, the central round counter is placed in the center like a pearl.
But the decoration is a little more elegant. The floor is paved with large areas of white marble tiles that were processed in this large city and were shipped from somewhere. Display stands with exquisite sculptures stand on the walls.
The dome is hung with chandeliers that refract light, shining like stars.
However, the main source of light was not him, but the large number of magic mining lamps installed on the dome. The huge chandelier looked more like a gorgeous decoration.
The interior was quite warm, evidently some sort of heating system was used.
Ina followed the guests into the front hall.
However, she soon discovered that the composition of these guests seemed slightly different from what she had expected.
Some of them are not as excited and curious as ordinary apprentices, but rather steady and conceited.
Unlike normal scholars, the tutors are not a bit sloppy and simple. They are neatly dressed and don't mind wearing all kinds of exquisite and precious jewelry.
Many of them obviously knew Aixia.
They treated Ina indifferently, but would greet Aixia warmly or smile and nod.
"They are all celebrities, wealthy people, or respectable middle-class people invited by the college, including former members of this club."
After exchanging greetings with a middle-aged lady with a gold pendant on her chest, Aixia whispered to Ina:
"However, most of them took the initiative to pay sponsorship to the college and apply to participate. This happens every year."
"After all, there are quite a few kids like Christine at the party."
Ina could only nod, not quite understanding, to show that she understood.
This was the second time in her life that she had attended a dinner party. If she knew a little about banquet socializing, she would not be completely clueless.
I didn't care much about it.
Just build it and you’re done!
