Chapter 511 Taking the Initiative
Sirius Black clashed with Snape again.
Harry was surprised to find that when he heard the news, he accepted it so calmly—as if it were the same as hearing that the kitchen would be serving beef pies at noon, nothing to be surprised about.
After he had swallowed the entire pie in his mouth, he asked Fred the reason.
"This time is different." Fred looked extremely excited, radiating the fervor of meeting his idol—he hadn't been this excited even at the Quidditch World Cup.
"That's right, Sirius took the initiative this time!" George said excitedly.
"Taking the initiative, what does that mean?" Hermione asked, frowning. Although she didn't know what had happened, anything that could excite Fred and George like this couldn't be anything good.
"It's very simple—" Fred said, "Sirius just took the way Snape treated Harry and applied it to a Slytherin."
"It's that Monta—"
"Then he got angry and wanted to teach Sirius a lesson—"
"Isn't it ridiculous that some idiot actually wanted to teach Sirius a lesson?"
"The result is self-evident; he got a severe beating."
Fred and George became more and more excited as they talked, and even gestured wildly to recreate what happened in class.
George's character, Monta, was flipped over and hung from the ceiling by Fred's wave of his hand.
Of course, George used props here, so it doesn't look as smooth as Monta back then, but fortunately everyone can understand what's going on.
"Wait, what does this have to do with Snape?" Harry asked.
"Don't rush me," Fred continued. "Snape always said he was going to fire you, so Sirius is also planning to fire that disrespectful Monta."
"Several Slytherins told Snape about it."
"And then he came."
"I don't know how, but the two of them started fighting in the classroom."
"That's truly admirable." George looked up, his eyes shining. "Hogwarts needs more professors like Sirius."
"In that case, Snape definitely won't dare to be so arrogant anymore."
"You guys—" Hermione opened her mouth as if to say something but then hesitated.
She originally wanted to say that frequent conflicts between professors would only have a very bad impact on other students and would not be a good thing at all.
But clearly, no one around her wanted to listen to her, and Ron might even have a big argument with her. She had a lot of things to do and didn't want to waste time on this pointless debate.
"Does Professor McGonagall know?" Hermione asked.
“Of course,” Fred said. “Professor McGonagall arrived in five minutes.”
"But Sirius and Snape won't be foolish enough to just wait around, especially since they've had that experience before," George said.
"By the time Professor McGonagall arrived, they had already left the classroom."
"What about Monta?" Ron asked hurriedly.
"He's the captain of the Slytherin team, so if he gets kicked out, it'll be good news for us."
"Of course he wasn't fired," George said, drawing out the last syllable to pique Ron's curiosity.
Ron looked somewhat disappointed.
"You can imagine," Fred said casually. "Headmaster Dumbledore wouldn't expel a student so easily unless he really did something terribly wrong."
"Yes, otherwise Snape would have already lured you into attacking him."
Harry shrugged, neither confirming nor denying.
Did Snape really not do that?
I doubt it. In Potions class, the sarcastic and mocking remarks he made about himself could fill a book, but he just held back and didn't give Snape a chance to pick a fight like Monta did.
"We're on our way to visit Sirius, would you like to join us?" Fred invited.
Without the slightest hesitation, Harry and the other two immediately agreed.
After a moment, Xilun nodded as well.
Although he had promised Dumbledore that he would try to avoid contact with Sirius Black to reduce the possibility of exposure, in the current situation, not going would seem even stranger.
As they climbed the stairs, the group skillfully arrived at the door of the Defense Against the Dark Arts office.
Harry took the initiative and knocked on the door.
"Listen to me, Minerva, things aren't as you think—"
Sirius's voice came from inside the office, and with a creak, the door opened.
"Professor Snape and I were just joking around—oh, you guys."
He only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that it was a group of Gryffindors standing outside the door, not Professor McGonagall. But it was clear that his face was very pale, and he didn't seem to have completely calmed down.
"Come in quickly, you guys really gave me a fright." Sirius opened the door and let the group into the office.
Xilun looked around curiously. The place was not much different from when he last came. If he had to say something, it was probably that it was cleaner.
The once filthy bookshelf was cleaned spotless by the house-elves, and even the books on it were immaculate.
"Sirius, are you afraid of Professor McGonagall?" Fred asked with a grin.
"Aren't you afraid?" Sirius asked back, and then Fred fell silent.
"You know, when I was in Hogwarts, Minerva McGonagall was already the Head of Gryffindor and Vice-Headmaster. Sometimes her words carried more weight than the Headmaster's."
"Would you like something to drink? I have to say—damn it, all I have left is Ogden Fire Whisky."
“We don’t mind,” George said, stepping forward. “Dad has a bottle of fiery whiskey too.”
"We've always wanted to try it and see what it tastes like—"
"But Dad always disagreed."
Even though we're already adults.
"Arthur is right." Sirius Black pushed the two away expressionlessly. "Believe me, this is not something you two should be drinking."
Realizing that they had run out of the butterbeer they bought from the Three Broomsticks, Sirius simply offered them a large jug of pumpkin soda—which was unlimited in the kitchen.
During their conversation, they inevitably brought up the conflict that had occurred in the classroom not long ago.
Hermione subtly hinted to Sirius several times that his repeated confrontations with Snape were a bit too impulsive, and that even if he really had to fight—he should at least do it somewhere where no students could see him, instead of fighting in front of everyone.
However, Sirius chose to play dumb and pretended not to understand her hint.
Even after Hermione made it quite obvious, he just laughed it off, gave a few casual words, and then changed the subject.
