Chapter 205: Registration
Chapter 205: Registration
Because of the addition of Wang Ting, the location of "Teacher Shen's Review Class" was changed to Teacher Shen's home.
Fearing that the children's tantrums would disturb their studies, Shen's mother often took Xiaoxuan to play with her younger siblings.
Shen's mother and An Hui didn't have much to talk about, but she had endless things to say to Aunt Zhao.
When Yuan Xiu returned from Teacher Shen's house, she saw Teacher Shen's mother carrying little Xuanxuan as she approached the door. "Little Yuan, you've finished your class? Chairman Gu is here, and he even brought a stroller. It looks so high-end; it's a stroller specially designed for twins! Come on in and take a look!"
After seeing Shen's mother off, Yuan Xiu closed the courtyard gate and went into the house. She immediately saw the stroller next to the sofa in the living room, where the two little ones were lying happily waving their little hands and feet.
No wonder Shen's mother said it was high-end; it certainly looks high-end, and it's also very sturdy.
The frame is made of alloy and oak, which looks particularly exquisite and textured. The body is made of rattan, which is not only very delicate, but also breathable and comfortable. The seats and backrests inside the car are made of sponge, which feels soft to the touch. No wonder the two little guys are so happy lying in it.
"This is a belated full-month celebration gift from your Aunt Gu for the children. I offered her money, but she refused," An Hui said to Yuan Xiu, glancing at Chairman Gu with her eyes.
Chairman Gu laughed and said, "Alright, stop being so polite with me. When has An Hui ever been polite to me?"
She turned to Yuan Xiu and said, "I went to Haicheng on a business trip when the baby was a month old. This stroller was bought in Haicheng. Your mother-in-law had told me before that she couldn't find a stroller that could fit two children in the malls here. I thought Haicheng might have one, so I went to the mall to take a look, and I actually found one."
"Thank you so much, Aunt Gu. You've gone to so much trouble."
This car doesn't look cheap; it looks like an imported product.
"What's the big deal? As long as the two kids can use it, that's fine."
Aunt Zhao brought out several servings of double-skin milk pudding from the kitchen. "Come and try it, it tastes just like the old one."
Chairman Gu quickly stood up, took the bowl, and scooped a spoonful into his mouth. After eating, he nodded repeatedly, "This is the taste! I've been craving this flavor for so many years, and Xiao Shuang's is still the most authentic!"
Aunt Zhao smiled and said, "I'm glad you like it. I steamed several bowls."
After saying that, he picked up a bowl and handed it to Yuan Xiu: "Little Yuan, you should try it too. If you like it, I'll make it often in the future. It's so convenient in the army. Families with children can order milk, and it's delivered to them every day."
Yuan Xiu took the bowl. "Did you order milk at home?"
"It's been ordered. Your mother-in-law ordered a quarter's worth of milk."
Aunt Zhao said, "The children are still young, so we won't give them milk yet. We can start giving them milk when they are six months old."
An Hui chimed in, "By then you'd probably be in school, and they'd have to be weaned. With formula, milk, and complementary foods, their nutrition would definitely be up to par. As for now, we adults can drink the milk, and your Aunt Zhao can make it into desserts so we can enjoy some."
Yuan Xiu smiled and nodded, her eyes lighting up after taking a bite of the double-skin milk pudding!
It's really delicious!
Sweet but not cloying, smooth and tender.
No wonder Chairman Gu has thought about this for so many years.
Seeing their mother eating next to them, the two little ones got hungry and reached out their little hands to Yuan Xiu.
Her little mouth is all pouting.
Yuan Xiu put down the double-skin milk she had just taken a couple of bites of, picked up the children, and fed them milk first.
The advantage of having a stroller is that when Anhui and Aunt Zhao take their children out, they no longer need to each carry one.
They put the children in the car and pushed it out the door. Every time they went out, it would attract the attention of the neighbors in the compound who would come over to take a look.
Soon, Yuan Xiu's maternity leave ended.
She returned to the hospital on the first day after her maternity leave ended, which happened to be the same time when the candidates were preparing to officially register.
Candidates who are employed need to provide proof of employment, political performance, and other materials demonstrating their ability to apply for the Traditional Chinese Medicine exam.
So on her first day at work, Yuan Xiu went to the hospital's personnel department.
"Why is it you?" Yuan Xiu encountered Wang Xiaomei coming out of the personnel department.
"I've finished my maternity leave and gone back to work, why can't it be me?"
Yuan Xiu glanced down at the documents in her hand, and Wang Xiaomei immediately hid behind her, passing Yuan Xiu and going downstairs.
"A few months ago, he was more stubborn than anyone else, but now that the college entrance examination has been reinstated, he's more anxious than anyone else."
When Yuan Xiu went to work, Hao Jia was the happiest person. When Hao Jia came back from the personnel department, Yuan Xiu would pull her aside and start telling her about what happened in the hospital during her seventy days of maternity leave.
"Who are you talking about?"
"Who else could it be but Wang Xiaomei! There are more than a dozen people in our hospital who are taking the college entrance examination this year, and Wang Xiaomei is one of them. Everyone says that she must get into university this time. She even made a vow in the nursing department that she would go to medical school."
Yuan Xiucai had met Wang Xiaomei at the entrance of the personnel department. "No wonder I ran into her at the personnel department. She was there to get a certificate."
"I heard that registration starts in the next couple of days. When are you going to register?" Hao Jia asked her.
"Tomorrow, I'll go tomorrow."
The registration location was the admissions office in the district. The next day, Yuan Xiu made an appointment with Sun Ying and Wang Ting and went to the admissions office early to submit their registration materials.
They arrived early enough; a long queue had already formed outside.
Hundreds of registered candidates stood in the cold wind, waiting in line.
It's already November, and the weather has long since turned cold. The weather has been bad these past few days; there's no strong wind, but the gentle breezes are chilling, seeping into your bones.
"Luckily we brought scarves when we went out, otherwise this wind would have been unbearable." Wang Ting stamped her feet, not because she was cold, but because her legs were stiff from standing for so long.
"How much longer?" Sun Ying asked, holding Yuan Xiu's hand and leaning lazily against her while yawning. "I read until 1:30 last night before going to sleep, and I got up at 6 this morning. I'm so tired."
"Why are you sleeping so late? If I were like you, I wouldn't be able to get up."
Sun Ying gave her a resentful look. "Isn't it because I'm afraid of getting scolded by your Aunt Shen? Why don't you take the blame for me next time she scolds me?"
Wang Ting looked at the sky and the ground but not at her. What a joke! She's scared too, you know?
Ahead of them in line was a father and son. The father looked to be around thirty-seven or thirty-eight, and the son looked to be around eighteen or nineteen. The two were whispering to each other, and if the son hadn't called out "Dad," they wouldn't have realized that the two were father and son.
