Its movements were slow, even somewhat sluggish, but each step carried immense force, leaving a clear, deep crater in the asphalt road.
A pickup truck was blocking its way, but it simply waved its hand, and the truck, weighing over a ton, was swept away like an empty soda can, tumbling and crashing into a shop window, shattering glass everywhere.
The sirens, screams, and cries mingled together. The townspeople scattered like ants whose nest had been disturbed, fleeing for their lives.
Phil Coulson hid behind a police car and yelled at the top of his lungs into the walkie-talkie.
"All units, repeat, all units! Abandon conventional weapons! Immediately organize the evacuation of civilians! This is not a drill!"
Several agents around him poked their heads out and opened fire on the metal giant with automatic rifles.
When a bullet hits its smooth outer shell, it bounces off without even a spark, making a crisp clanging sound.
The Destroyer ignored them completely and continued its unhurried advance. Its goal was clear.
Coulson watched this scene, his back drenched in cold sweat. He had seen many things, but this incomprehensible, absolute power was unlike anything he had ever witnessed. A name flashed through his mind—Anthony Chen. Then the anonymous message he had just received flashed through his mind as well.
"Retreat! Everyone retreat to the safety line!" Coulson gave the final order. He knew that staying here would only result in more corpses.
At the other end of town, Thor was driving a dilapidated van that was about to fall apart, the back of which was crammed with terrified townspeople. Jane Foster and her two colleagues, Eric Scharvig and Daisy Louise, were also squeezed into the cab.
"What on earth is that thing?" Jane looked at the metal giant getting closer and closer in the rearview mirror, her face turning pale with fright.
“Loki sent him.” Thor’s face was even uglier than hers. He gripped the steering wheel tightly, veins bulging on the back of his hands. “He came to kill me.”
He jerked the steering wheel, the truck swerved, narrowly avoiding a chunk of concrete that had been blasted away by the Destroyer. He pulled over to the side of the road, shoved a little girl who had almost been hit, and yelled at Jane, "You guys get out of here! I'll hold it off!"
“Are you crazy? You’re just an ordinary person now! You’re going to die!” Jane grabbed his arm, her voice trembling.
“I’m the only one who can stop it.” Thor shook off her hand, his eyes filled with determination. “This all started because of me, and it’s my turn to end it.”
He knew he no longer possessed divine power; a single punch could break his bones. But he couldn't bear to watch these innocent people die because of him. This was his last vestige of dignity as the Prince of Asgard.
He took a deep breath and walked alone toward the metal giant that was destroying the town.
The Destroyer stopped. Its smooth scalp slowly opened, revealing a hole through which churned orange-red light, like molten lava.
It recognized Thor.
“Brother!” Thor shouted, tilting his head back to face the scorching heat. “I know you can hear me! I know you hate me! Whatever I did wrong in the past, I apologize to you! But these people are innocent! Let them go! All you want is me, come on!”
He opened his arms, completely giving up resistance, and closed his eyes.
Asgard, the fairy palace.
Loki, dressed in a black royal robe, sat on Odin's throne. He held the golden spear of eternity in his hand, coldly observing everything that was happening on Earth through the Destroyer's perspective.
Heimdall stood silently in front of the control panel of the Rainbow Bridge.
"What a touching display of brotherly love." Loki looked at Thor's foolish, neck-offering expression on the screen, a cold sneer curling at the corner of his mouth. "So be it, my dear brother."
He raised the Spear of Eternity, pointed it at the void, and gave the command.
The light behind the Destroyer's visor suddenly shone brightly, and energy condensed in an instant.
A scorching beam of energy, carrying an aura of annihilation, shot out from the void, aiming straight for Thor's chest.
"No—!" Jane screamed in despair.
Coulson closed his eyes in despair.
Just before the beam of light was about to strike Thor, a figure appeared out of thin air and blocked Thor's path.
He stretched out one hand, spreading his five fingers.
[Space Curvature Barrier] Activated
The beam of light, powerful enough to melt tank armor, abruptly stopped less than ten centimeters from his palm. Like a venomous snake crashing into an invisible glass wall, it writhed and hissed wildly, unable to advance an inch further. The surrounding air was distorted by the intense heat, emitting a sizzling sound.
Time seemed to stand still at this moment.
Everyone was stunned.
Coulson and his agents stared wide-eyed, forgetting to put down their guns.
Jane and Eric stared blankly at the man who had suddenly appeared, their minds completely blank.
Thor suddenly opened his eyes and looked at the not-so-tall but incredibly reliable figure in front of him, momentarily forgetting where he was.
"Long time no see, Mr. Thor." Chu Hang didn't turn around, his voice was calm and clear to everyone's ears, "It seems your life on Earth hasn't been very peaceful."
He clenched his palm lightly.
The imprisoned beam of energy instantly collapsed inward, compressing into a fist-sized ball of light, and then with a soft "pop," it vanished into thin air like a popped soap bubble.
The Destroyer seemed to pause for a moment. Its programming lacked a contingency plan for this situation.
It raised its massive metal arm, its muscular structure bulging, and with a whooshing sound as it tore through the air, slammed it down toward Chu Hang's head.
Chu Hang didn't even turn his head; he simply raised his other hand and lifted it upwards.
A deep, muffled bang that sent shivers down one's spine.
The Destroyer's iron fist slammed solidly into Chu Hang's palm.
Chu Hang remained completely still. The asphalt beneath his feet was not even cracked. A visible shockwave emanated from him, blowing away all the surrounding dust and gravel.
"Not bad strength," Chu Hang commented casually, "but not quite as strong as Hulk."
The moment his palm touched the Destroyer's shell, something new entered his mind.
[S-Rank Ability: Adaptive Armor]
[Ability Description: Can absorb external attack energy, analyze attack patterns, and quickly generate targeted, high-strength defensive structures.]
"Interesting," Chu Hang thought to himself, "I'll take it."
The Destroyer was enraged. Its core program determined that the target before it was a top-level threat. It retracted its fists, and the armor on its arms deformed and reformed with a tooth-grinding metallic scraping sound, revealing a dense honeycomb of cannon muzzles.
"Boom boom boom boom!"
The next second, countless beams of energy rained down on Chu Hang like a deluge.
Chu Hang remained standing in the same spot, without moving an inch.
When those energy beams, powerful enough to level a small mountain, came within a meter of his body, a bizarre scene unfolded.
The space around him began to distort and fold like ripples in water.
The energy beams shot into this area; some were refracted into the sky, exploding into dazzling fireworks in the clouds; some were bounced back to the ground, blasting huge craters in the streets; and some simply vanished into thin air, transferred to some unknown dimension.
Not a single shot could even touch the hem of his clothes.
"Is the performance over?" Chu Hang's voice carried a hint of impatience. "It's my turn."
He took a step forward, and his figure disappeared from the spot.
The next second, he appeared like a ghost above the Destroyer's head.
He clenched his right fist, and tiny golden sparks crackled and gathered into a blinding light.
Then, he punched down on the Destroyer's smooth head.
[Infinite Rage]
A crisp cracking sound drowned out all the noise.
A clear crack appeared on the Destroyer's helmet, which was supposedly made of Uru steel and would never wear out.
Immediately afterwards, cracks spread rapidly like a spider web to its neck, chest, limbs... covering its entire body.
The Destroyer's massive body froze. Its orange-red core energy uncontrollably surged from countless cracks, like a statue about to collapse.
Chu Hang landed gracefully, standing steadily beside Thor.
The Destroyer collapsed to his knees behind him. His entire upper body, including his head, was completely shattered into countless metal fragments of varying sizes in a muffled explosion, scattering across the ground.
Only the lower half of the body, still emitting blue smoke, remained in a kneeling position, reduced to a pile of scrap metal.
The entire town was completely silent.
Chu Hang walked up to the fragments and casually picked up a half of the relatively intact mask. He went to Thor, who was still in a daze, and handed him the mask.
"I've looked closely," Chu Hang said. "This thing, in Asgard, would be considered a top-tier weapon, right?"
Thor swallowed hard and nodded subconsciously.
"But it has no will, no soul, it's just an empty shell that obeys orders. So it's very fragile."
As Chu Hang spoke, he slowly exerted force with his five fingers.
That tough metal faceplate, capable of withstanding bullets, was easily crushed into a twisted lump of scrap metal in his hands.
“And you,” Chu Hang casually tossed the lump of scrap metal onto the ground with a clang, “once possessed power a hundred times greater than it, but you used it as a tool for showing off, a means of fighting. What difference is there between you and it?”
Thor's body trembled violently.
Chu Hang's words were like an invisible hammer, striking his heart hard and shattering his last shred of pride.
He looked at the devastated town, at the civilians who had been displaced and were filled with fear because of him, at the tear stains on Jane's face that were still wet, and then at the ugly pile of scrap metal on the ground.
An unprecedented wave of shame and remorse overwhelmed him like a burst dam.
He finally understood his father's intentions.
He was not stripped of his divine power.
He is... unworthy of it.
At the very moment he finally realized what was happening, in the distance, in the crater sealed off by S.H.I.E.L.D.
Thor's hammer, which had been silent for a long time, suddenly emitted a high-pitched hum.
The hammer transformed into a silver streak, soaring into the sky and piercing the heavens as it flew towards the town.
Its speed was so fast that it broke the sound barrier, leaving a long white trail of air behind it.
Thor seemed to sense something, and suddenly looked up at the light flying towards him, instinctively extending his right hand.
The hammer traced a perfect arc and landed precisely in his palm.
A familiar yet heavy touch came over him, as if a lost part of his body had finally returned.
A massive bolt of lightning, piercing the heavens and earth, tore through the clear sky and struck Thor precisely.
In the blinding light, his cheap T-shirt and jeans were instantly vaporized by the violent energy. In their place appeared a form-fitting suit of armor made of countless silver scales, and a red cloak billowed behind him without wind.
Thor is back.
