Chapter 604 Moving
Chapter 604 Moving
The heavy castle gates, shrouded in shifting shadows, slowly opened inward, and Scáthach stepped out first, her deep purple eyes sweeping across the outside world. Following closely behind were Tang Zijun, Desk, still somewhat weak in the knees and pale-faced, and Tanya, the newly appointed Goddess of Commerce, dressed in tattered clothes, her eyes filled with curiosity and wariness.
However, the scene that came into view outside the door made everyone except Scáthach freeze in place instantly.
That desolate, dilapidated city, steeped in filth and terror, has now been completely transformed.
Looking around, what you see is no longer broken walls and gray bricks, but a vast, vibrant, and endlessly living green ocean that completely submerges the city.
Huge, jade-like vines coiled around the towering wreckage like writhing dragons, their thick stems shimmering with a warm, jade-like luster, and their enormous leaves, like shields carved from jasper, swayed gently in the breeze.
From the cracks in the ruins, countless strangely shaped ferns sprouted, their leaves resembling the most exquisite peacock tail feathers, with faint fluorescent light flowing along their edges, emitting a refreshing fragrance.
On the ground, a thick layer of moss radiating a soft green light covered every inch of bare earth, gravel, and even remaining bones, like the most luxurious carpet. Interspersed among it were countless exotic flowers and plants of all sizes and colors. Some flowers were as clear as crystal, with star-like points of light shimmering inside, while others were like burning flames, with faint golden light dancing on the edges of their petals.
The air was no longer filled with the savory, rotten smell and blasphemous whispers, but with a rich, intoxicating fragrance that blended the scent of earth, the freshness of grass and trees, and a pure life energy. It was as if this place was not a wasteland that had just experienced a war between gods and demons and was polluted by the Great Old Ones, but a long-lost ancient jungle.
"This...this is..." Desk opened his mouth wide, rubbing his eyes hard, unable to believe what he was seeing.
In his memory, Crimson Maple City was synonymous with death and terror, but what lay before him... was nothing short of a mythical paradise.
Tanya's clear eyes widened, filled with childlike wonder and a profound awe of the divine. Her dirty little hand unconsciously reached for a huge fern leaf that glowed with fluorescent light, her fingertips almost touching its vibrant veins.
"My God... So you're a god, like the Forest God." She murmured to herself, her voice filled with disbelief. "The Forest God? No... I just used the power a friend lent me." Tang Zijun waved his hand lightly upon hearing this. He walked to Desk and Tanya's side, his gaze calmly sweeping over the oasis of life he had personally nurtured, as if admiring an ordinary work. "This is the natural impact on the environment caused by the residual overflow of the immense life force contained within 'Beyond Life Form' after it has been fully activated. Those filthy, twisted powers of the Old Ones are still significantly affected by this pure and boundless life force of order." He paused, his gaze turning towards the distant city, still entangled by giant vines but no longer radiating a blasphemous aura.
"It is thanks to the burst of this power that I could have completely removed the filthy mark left by the 'creeping pleasure' and forced its power back. It would have taken me a lot of effort and time."
Although the exact nature of the corrupting power of the crawling pleasure-inducing creature is still unknown, Tang Zijun discovered that Trova's powerful life force seemed to have a certain restraining effect on it. Although it was only a little, not as obvious as the sunlight spreading shadows, it was enough for him. "Lord Wolf Rider, if you used this power for nurturing, I'm afraid we would never go hungry in our lives." Desk licked his lips. After experiencing so much, what he cared about most was still his brothers in Black City who were starving.
Tang Zijun understood his thoughts, but he shook his head slightly. "I know what you mean, but unfortunately, it's not as simple as you think."
"What transcends life forms is more about strengthening myself. What you see is just a part of the effect of life force being released. It is almost impossible to use this power for farming."
"If the plant itself doesn't have the power to resist strong winds and pollution, then even if I force it to grow and sprout with my own life force, it's just a case of pulling up seedlings to help them grow." As she spoke, Tang Zijun pointed to the vines in the distance. "Look, after losing my supply, they've already shown signs of withering over there."
Desk looked in the direction Tang Zijun pointed and indeed saw a patch of vines that had begun to wither. "What a pity, I thought..." Seeing the regret on his face, Tang Zijun patted his shoulder and said softly. "Don't worry, there will be food. Those elves have done a great job with the greenhouses, and I specifically brought branches from the Tree of Life this time to improve the ecology of Black City's agriculture." Hearing Tang Zijun's words, Desk nodded. "I understand, sir. We will definitely rebuild Black City!" "I believe in you."
Tang Zijun smiled slightly, then changed the subject.
"Alright, enough of the small talk."
Turning her gaze away, Tang Zijun looked at Scáthach and Tanya, "Ilúvatar's divine body must be moved as soon as possible. Relying solely on human labor is not only impractical, but may also cause secondary damage to the remaining divinity of the pool."
"I just contacted Katie and asked her to drive the train over to pick me up."
"Train?" Tanya tilted her head curiously; the word was somewhat unfamiliar to her.
Tang Zijun didn't explain in detail, but only tentatively said, "A means of transportation that is...large enough, sturdy enough, and fast enough should be arriving soon."
As if to confirm his words, a deep and rhythmic metallic roar suddenly came from the horizon, which was covered by huge vines and lush plants in the distance.
Immediately afterwards, a powerful beam of white light, like a searchlight, pierced through the layers of green barriers.
With a sharp cracking sound as branches and vines were forcibly separated, a massive steel structure, exuding industrial power, slowly entered this oasis of life, like a steel behemoth tearing through the forest.
"Look, here it comes." Tang Zijun's lips curled into a barely perceptible smile.
Tanya stared in surprise at the rumbling, rapidly approaching steel behemoth. Unlike Desk, Tanya could clearly see the "truth" of the steam train. In her vision, she saw a dimension filled with shattered, chaotic spatial fragments, shimmering with golden light, rushing straight toward them!
If Tang Zijun and Scáthach hadn't bothered to react, Tanya was sure she would have screamed and run away long ago. This kind of extremely unstable spatial dimension is very dangerous. But strangely, despite the chaos, this dimension showed no signs of collapsing. Instead, it remained in this state and slowly stopped in front of everyone.
As soon as the car door opened, a white figure jumped out.
"Wow!"
As soon as Curly Ears got out of the car, he let out a scream, his face full of excitement.
Behind her, Katie, Tangcao, Xiaobai, and Su Siyao, along with their cat, hopped and skipped off the car.
"Brother, did you call me?" Katie quickly came to Tang Zijun's side, her gaze lingering on the stranger Tania for a moment before returning to Tang Zijun.
"Yeah, I asked you to come and help me out." Tang Zijun nodded, then looked at Tang Cao and the others. "Why are you all here too? Don't you know it's dangerous outside Black City?"
"Didn't you tell me not to stray too far from the train? I've been following Brother Tang's instructions." Su Siyao chuckled and scratched her head, winking at Tang Zijun. "Brother Tang, have I been a good boy?"
"You little rascal," Tang Zijun rolled her eyes at her, then said seriously, "Do you feel anything is wrong, or is there anything that makes you feel uncomfortable?"
"Hmm...nothing." Su Siyao carefully sensed the air and shook her head slightly. "It feels pretty much the same as Black City. The air's just so-so. What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, you guys should hurry back to the car, we're getting ready to head back too." Tang Zijun said, then turned to Katie. "Call a few flight attendants down to help me with some things, we have to go on a long business trip soon."
