Chapter 9 An Ordinary Morning
The next morning, Tang Cao still couldn't get up on time.
After busy preparing breakfast for half the day, Tang Zijun glanced at the time on her phone, then, feeling somewhat tired, went to Tang Cao's bedroom door and knocked.
"Time to get up, Tangcao, you're going to be late for school."
After saying that, Tang Zijun listened intently to the sounds coming from inside the room.
next second.
"Gurgle gurgle gurgle gurgle."
A sound like a cat snoring came out, carrying a hint of resistance to waking up and annoyance at being disturbed, but overall, the sound had no meaning.
"Get up quickly. I told you not to stay up so late last night. I have to wake you up for ages every time. If you keep doing this, I'll activate your underage protection."
Upon hearing this, Tang Cao, who was still half asleep and about to stay in bed a little longer, sat up instantly, like a mummy that had just been resurrected.
However, Tang Cao soon realized that although her body was awake, her soul seemed to still be lying in bed. She frowned and scratched her messy hair.
After a while, Tang Cao's slightly hoarse voice finally came through the crack in the door.
"I'll get up, I'll get up, okay?"
Seeing this, Tang Zijun smiled helplessly.
As someone who experienced it firsthand, Tang Zijun knew that Tang Cao couldn't get up today not because of the game, but because she had secretly run away last night to fight against evil.
But to be honest, Tang Zijun still can't accept the fact that his sister has become a magical girl. Although he himself is a lucky person whose fantasy has become reality, there is still a big difference between seeing it in person and seeing it in front of his sister.
Back then, I fought against the evil forces of an entire world, which fulfilled my little dream before I transmigrated, but the dangers and hardships involved were beyond what outsiders could understand.
Who can understand the pain of preparing for the college entrance exam while also trying to save the world?
I just finished working through a practice test, and then I have to go on to work through another one. Sometimes I can only sleep for less than four hours a day, and I feel listless and wilted, like a frostbitten eggplant.
At first, Tang Zijun was in the mood to learn about the past of those strange people, but later he had no interest in chatting at all and just wanted to quickly defeat the enemy and go home to get a good night's sleep.
If only I had known back then that magical girls existed in this world, at least I wouldn't have been under so much pressure, and I wouldn't have been exhausted every day.
Just as Tang Zijun turned around to go back to the kitchen to bring out breakfast, the doorbell suddenly rang.
In today's society, apart from some villas and similar houses, very few people use the act of ringing the doorbell to notify the homeowner; basically, everyone is used to knocking on the door.
Whether it's food delivery or courier service, the delivery guys always knock on the door with just enough force for someone to hear them.
Tang Zijun, however, wasn't surprised at all by the doorbell. He stopped, turned around, went to the door, and flung it open. "Come in, Tang Cao isn't awake yet."
Standing at the door was a young girl who looked to be about the same age as Tang Cao.
She wasn't very tall, only a little over 1.6 meters, which would be considered below average in Snow City. She had short black hair and wore thick glasses, and her good figure was completely hidden by her simple school uniform.
Just one glance is enough to feel a scholarly atmosphere emanating from it.
However, this scholarly air is not decadent, but carries a youthful sunshine and vitality, giving people a sense of thriving sunshine, which fully confirms the phrase "flowers of the motherland".
Good morning, Brother Tang.
The girl greeted him with a smile before stepping inside.
"Sit down for a while, or go call Tang Cao for me. I'll bring out breakfast, and you can have some with me." Tang Zijun had met the girl in front of her before, and was quite familiar with her.
The girl's name is Su Siyao. She is Tang Cao's classmate and the only one in their class who, like Tang Cao, is a day student.
Both were good students and shared similar interests. After being assigned to the same class, they quickly became good friends and, within six months, became inseparable best friends.
Since neither of them lived on campus, Su Siyao would come here every day to ask Tang Cao to go to school together, rain or shine, without fail. Tang Zijun was quite happy about this, after all, going to school should be about making good friends.
Unlike myself back then, who, due to balancing studies and the responsibility of saving the world, ended up not making a single friend in high school.
"I already ate at home. My mom said I shouldn't trouble you too much." Su Siyao quickly took a carton of yogurt from her bag and placed it in Tang Zijun's hand. "Here, this is for you. It comes with chocolate cereal on top, it's really delicious."
"Thanks," Tang Zijun replied, then turned and went back to the kitchen. "It's no trouble at all, just adding a pair of chopsticks. I just made noodles with soybean paste today."
"Noodles with soybean paste!?"
Su Siyao's pupils, hidden beneath her glasses, suddenly sparkled like little stars.
Ever since she tried Tang Zijun's fried sauce noodles once, she has fallen in love with the taste. The sweet, spicy and salty sauce paired with noodles that have been rinsed in cold water is both chewy and delicious, leaving a lasting impression.
Originally, Su Siyao was the type who didn't like noodles. She preferred staple foods like fried dumplings and rice to noodles.
The latest novel is first published here!
However, after eating Tang Zijun's fried noodles, Su Siyao suddenly unlocked her craving for noodles. It turned out that she didn't dislike noodles, but rather disliked noodles that didn't taste good.
Smelling the enticing aroma wafting from the kitchen, Su Siyao licked her lips, but soon touched her lower abdomen.
"If I'd known you were making zha jiang mian (noodles with soybean paste), I wouldn't have eaten at home this morning. But I can still eat a whole bowl! Hmm, half a bowl, I guess."
Hearing her mutterings, Tang Zijun smiled slightly. "Then come in and get some yourself. There's also bone broth, what we had left over from last night."
"They're here!"
After putting down her schoolbag, Su Siyao immediately forgot all about waking up her best friend and ran straight towards the kitchen.
Before even serving a bowl of bone broth, Su Siyao took a delicious sip, let out a long sigh, and revealed a satisfied smile.
"—Awesome~"
"Drink more if you like. Tang Cao doesn't like drinking soup, but she likes eating bones and marrow. I always end up drinking the leftover soup by myself," Tang Zijun said casually, scooping a spoonful of egg sauce for herself.
Just then, the sound of a door opening rang out, and Tang Cao, swaying and yawning, 'struggled' her way to the bathroom.
Hearing her best friend get up, Su Siyao quickly poked her head out of the kitchen.
Good morning, Tangcao.
"morning"
Tangcao's voice was weak and listless.
Su Siyao, however, noticed with her sharp eyes that Tang Cao was wearing a blue crystal she had never seen before around her neck.
"Hey? That pendant you're wearing is so pretty!"
"Is it newly bought? Send me the link."
