The moment my finger touched the teacup, I bumped into something soft.
He paused for a moment, looked down, and saw a heart beating continuously.
The heart was not bright red, but rather a strange purplish-black, its surface covered with twisted blood vessels and tiny cracks.
With each heartbeat, a filthy magical light would emerge from his heart, as if it were being corrupted by dark forces.
The light carried an aura of corruption, as if it could pollute everything around it.
Matouchi felt a wave of nausea and fear, quickly pulled her hand back, and her heart raced.
He stared at the heart, a chill that was hard to describe rising within him.
"This is impossible..." he muttered to himself. Just moments ago, he was thinking about how absurd and unreal the dream was, but now, the things from the dream were actually appearing in front of him.
Suddenly, the wall of the side room, which had only been repaired not long ago, was shattered by a powerful impact, with bricks flying everywhere and dust filling the air.
The night and moonlight outside poured into the room through the huge hole, illuminating the eerie heart.
The visitor was Berserker. Sensing the presence of the heart, he rushed to the location of Matou Pond immediately.
Berserker appeared through the hole, clad in tattered armor, his eyes gleaming with a fanatical red light.
His breathing was rapid and deep, as if he had encountered his nemesis.
"Master, destroy it!!!"
Chapter 108 Prophecy
Matouike paused for a moment, then realized that Berserker was referring to the heart that was constantly oozing filthy black mud.
"This heart... is it really that much of a threat?" Matou Ike asked tentatively, a hint of doubt and hesitation flashing in his eyes.
"Its existence will bring endless calamities and must be destroyed immediately!" Berserker roared again, leaning forward as if ready to strike at any moment.
At that moment, Caster sensed the sudden commotion and finally arrived at the scene.
She stood at the edge of the hole, looking at the Berserker who looked like he was facing a formidable enemy and the bewildered Matou Ike, somewhat puzzled. How did things suddenly turn out like this...?
"How is this going?"
Caster's voice was exceptionally clear in the silent night. Her gaze swept across the scene, landing on the black mud residue in Matou Ike's hand and the heart on the table.
“A heart oozing black mud suddenly appeared on the table just now,” Matou Ike explained. “Berserker said it was very dangerous and that I should destroy it.”
Caster stepped forward, carefully examining the remnants of black mud and the eerie heart, his brow furrowing slightly.
“This thing is indeed unusual,” she whispered. “It carries a powerful curse and is corrosive, originating from an extremely evil force.”
"How did you suddenly come to have such a thing?" she asked Matou Ike, her tone tinged with suspicion.
“I…I’m not quite sure. I just had a strange dream. I dreamt of the City of the Fallen and Beelzebub. When I woke up, I found it next to my teacup,” Matou Ike said, somewhat confused.
“Beelzebub?” Caster looked at him in surprise. “That’s a legendary being. What does he have to do with you?”
“I don’t know, everything in the dream was chaotic, but that dream… was too real,” Matou Ike said, feeling a chill as he recalled the scene.
Caster pondered for a moment, then nodded.
She then said to Berserker:
"Gil, don't be nervous. This thing has been sealed, and the power it contained has been almost completely consumed, leaving only the rank. The black mud it extracted is not even as good as your Noble Phantasm."
Berserker looked at the sealed heart, the red light in his eyes gradually fading. He nodded and relaxed slightly.
“But we still need to be careful,” he said in a low voice, “this power could cause trouble at any time.”
“You’re right,” Caster replied, “but with the seal in place, we don’t need to worry too much for now.”
She hesitated for a moment, then said, "I'll keep this for now. Since we already have it, we might be able to make use of it."
Berserker nodded, clearly having no objection to the proposal.
“Okay, but you must be careful,” he solemnly advised.
Caster smiled gently, walked to the table, carefully picked up the heart, and sealed it even more tightly with magic. Her movements were gentle and swift, clearly demonstrating her extensive experience in handling this type of item.
"Don't worry, I'll do my best to make sure it doesn't cause any trouble." After saying that, she placed the heart into a specially made magical container.
Matou Ike nodded, feeling slightly relieved, but seeing the damaged walls, she couldn't help but sigh: "It seems that we can't live in this room anymore."
Caster glanced at the hole and said, "Indeed, this is not a place to stay any longer. Since things have come to this, let's eat first. I've prepared some simple food in the backyard, and we can discuss our next plans then."
Matouike and Berserker followed Caster to the backyard of Ryudouji Temple, where there was a relatively spacious room. Several simple yet exquisite dishes were already laid out on the table, obviously prepared in advance by Caster.
"So you can cook?" Matou Ike asked, somewhat surprised.
"Of course, I have many skills, not just combat and magic."
Caster smiled slightly; she would never admit that after cooking it once, she found it unpalatable and ended up ordering food from outside.
Would Matou Ike simply believe that, in that past life's memory, Caster's cooking skills were, to put it mildly, terrible, and it was fortunate that they weren't some kind of culinary disaster?
But faced with Caster's enthusiastic invitation and the fact that the dishes looked decent, Matou Ike decided to give them a try.
Hmm? Surprisingly, it's not bad.
Caster saw his reaction and the corners of his mouth turned up slightly, looking very satisfied.
"Looks like my efforts weren't in vain. Enjoy!" she said, a sly glint in her eyes.
While eating, Matou Ike suddenly noticed a newspaper on the corner of the table.
"What is this?" he asked.
“It was left by the workers who came to do repairs during the day,” Caster said casually, clearly uninterested in the newspaper.
Matou Ike picked up the newspaper and unfolded it to read.
The front page of the newspaper featured a news article about the restoration project of the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum by the neighboring ancient kingdom, with before-and-after photos attached.
Matouchi casually glanced at the photos and was about to turn the page when he noticed a small news item in the corner of the newspaper.
Matou Ike continued reading the newspaper, his brow furrowed.
“The surveyors discovered a well-preserved bamboo slip that has been passed down for 2000 years at the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor,” he read aloud. “After a preliminary interpretation of its contents, it turns out to be a prophecy.”
“A prophecy?” Caster’s interest was piqued, and she leaned closer to look at the newspaper article.
"Yes, according to preliminary predictions, the world will end in 2016..." Matou Ike read, his tone tinged with disbelief.
Caster instantly lost interest. Such doomsday prophecies have appeared to varying degrees in different civilizations, but none of them have ever been truly verified.
But Matouike doesn't think so... 2016, isn't that the year that humanity was burned down?
Matou Ike rubbed his head, trying to clear his chaotic thoughts. Those memories from his past life were like a tangled mess of threads, giving him a terrible headache.
But that happened 22 years later, and it has nothing to do with him now.
It's more important to figure out how to deal with the upcoming Holy Grail War.
He looked up at Caster, who was busy beside him: "Caster, how's your research going?"
"It's going very well, and there has been some important progress. The dragon army you envisioned may be put to use tomorrow, but its strength should still be inferior to the one that Jill summoned."
"Moreover, with this heart, the results of the experiment may be able to go even further."
Matou Ike nodded upon hearing this. In that case, they could prepare a more proactive offensive.
......
Angra Mainyu, in the form of Assassin, is currently outside the castle built by Einzbern in Fuyuki.
Although the forest was covered with many layers of barriers, this level of protection was not a problem for him.
Feeling somewhat bored with the current regulatory events, he seemed to suddenly sense something.
"That guy's finally back? I barely left and he's off on a secret mission. He never includes me in the fun stuff..."
Chapter 109 Remains
The whole day was so peaceful that Weber felt like he was dreaming.
Half a day later, he finally understood what this calm meant.
Early in the morning, Weber got up and told the elderly couple that he would be home late that night. He didn't even have breakfast and went straight to Xindu.
Although it was still early and not yet the peak traffic time, there were still many people commuting from Fuyuki to the neighboring town, and the buses heading to the station were already packed.
Weber wasn't used to such crowded scenes, but even the noise made him feel a sense of peace, and even a little empty.
For the past two days, he has had a strong, albeit subtle, presence around him, and now, compared to this noise and dynamism, he feels like he has been abandoned all alone on the field after the World Cup.
Rider's presence still lingers.
Just like now, when he's riding the bus, Waver can still feel the powerful presence of the spirit-like Servant coming from beside him.
But the burly man did not reveal his physical form.
Since his battle with the King of Heroes last night, Rider has remained in spirit form and has not appeared in person.
For other Servants, this situation would be perfectly normal, because as long as they are not in combat, there is no need to manifest a physical form and expend unnecessary mana.
However, this logic does not apply to Iskandar. Besides, his purpose in pursuing the Holy Grail was to obtain a physical body.
If Weber had only been absent for a few hours, he could have assumed it was just a passing fancy, but to be absent for an entire day was clearly suspicious.
Waver had a clue: it was magic... and that sudden power he'd gained...
Even in his spirit form, Waver, as the Master, can still converse with his Servants.
Rider would always respond if he called out, but Webber is unwilling to do so now.
Therefore, Weber started shopping early on his own. He first went to the department store that had just opened and bought a complete set of heavy sleeping bags and thermal mats for mountaineering in the outdoor equipment section.
Although it cost a lot, it was nothing compared to the game console Rider bought.
Because of the expenses required to preserve Mr. Kenneth's body, the money I borrowed from that idiot is almost gone, but I'm still very grateful to him. I should have borrowed more...
In short, after Weber bought what he needed, he went straight back to Fukayama Town.
After passing the station two stops closest to Mackenzie's house, I got off near my destination.
He bought an eel and egg drop bento box from a roadside convenience store and heated it in the microwave.
