Chapter 15 Proposal to Crack Down on the Libertarians
Chapter 15 Proposal to Crack Down on the Libertarians
Raphael gave Miss Audrey, with her large beard, another look and used the power of the white jade beads to examine Miss Hall's spirituality once more.
The result was the same as before; no extraordinary aura was detected in Audrey.
Raphael paused for a few seconds before stubbing out the cigarette he had just dropped and looking directly at Audrey: "So, may I ask what your purpose is in approaching me?"
After his initial shock, he quickly calmed down and realized that there were only three possibilities for this strange situation: first, the power attached to the white jade bead had malfunctioned; second, Audrey was under the protection of a high-level being, which rendered the power of the white jade bead ineffective; and third, Audrey herself was a high-level extraordinary being.
Raphael then ruled out the first possibility, and for either of the latter two possibilities, killing a Sequence 8 like Audrey would be as easy as stepping on an ant.
However, Audrey did not do that. Instead, she asked Raphael to kidnap her and never showed her abilities.
Raphael then deduced that Audrey must have had some purpose in approaching him.
Audrey hesitated slightly when she saw Raphael's calm and wise eyes. How could this person switch between madness and wisdom so easily?
Her hesitation lasted only a moment, then she smiled and said, "It seems I don't need to explain too much."
Then she gave the reason she had prepared beforehand: "As a nobleman, it is inconvenient for me to take action or conduct investigations in many situations, so I need some subordinates to serve me."
"Since he is a subordinate, of course we should examine him carefully."
Raphael, however, seemed uninterested: "Oh."
Then he asked, "And Miss Susie?"
Audrey suppressed a laugh: "That's a friend I invited to come and help me evaluate you."
Raphael couldn't help but laugh when he thought about how he had once used Susie to threaten Audrey.
Audrey asked, "I'm curious, if I weren't an extraordinary being, would you really intend to release me after receiving the ransom?"
"After receiving the ransom, I will disband the Mafia and hide you in a secluded place," Raphael replied. "Then I will inform Count Hall of your hiding place by letter."
"By the time the letter reached Earl Hall, I had already left Backlund."
Audrey was stunned for a moment: "You're actually willing to abandon the mafia you built for a single Sequence 7 trait?"
Raphael shrugged and smiled, "For me, enjoying life is more important."
He paused for a moment and then continued, "So I don't want to be anyone's subordinate, but if your offer is right, I can help you with some investigations and solve some problems for you when it's inconvenient for you to take action."
He wasn't too worried about being silenced by Audrey for refusing her. Although Miss Hall had always appeared calm and collected, making it impossible to guess her true thoughts, Raphael thought that if she was really vetting her subordinates, he could let Miss Susie do it. There was no need for a noblewoman like Miss Hall to risk observing him personally.
Therefore, Raphael guessed that the other party must have other purposes, and that he would not be harmed until the other party achieved their purpose.
Raphael's refusal was somewhat unexpected for Audrey, because for wild extraordinary individuals, joining an extraordinary organization or becoming a subordinate of a high-ranking extraordinary individual could provide better resources for advancement.
However, Audrey wasn't really there to recruit subordinates; she just wanted to establish a connection with Raphael.
So she pretended to be somewhat regretful and said, "This kind of cooperation is acceptable."
Then Raphael smiled helplessly and said, "There's no way to ask for a ransom."
The kidnapped "hostage" was a "middle-sequence" extraordinary individual who could leave whenever he wanted, and even if Raphael were truly insane, he wouldn't stop him.
Audrey smiled and said, "If you successfully complete the tasks I assign you in the future, I can reward you with the extraordinary characteristics of a 'werewolf'."
Raphael did not answer immediately, but thoughtfully took out a metal cigarette case, took a cigarette, and lit it slowly.
After taking a drag of his cigarette, Raphael said, "I don't mean to speculate, but based on common sense, even for a very prestigious nobleman, it's not common for someone as young as Miss Hall to advance to the 'Middle Sequence'... most likely Sequence 5."
"So I can guess that there must be an organization behind Miss Hall."
"I wonder if your organization is interested in cracking down on the 'Rose School' libertarian faction?"
In the extraordinary world, the indulgent faction of the "Rose School" is like a rat crossing the street, an organization that everyone hates and condemns.
Organizations that generally lean towards justice will certainly not miss such an opportunity to demonstrate their righteousness.
Organizations leaning towards evil would also see this as a good opportunity to make money, since the characteristics of "indulgence" members are all about money.
Of course, the key issue is that this organization's power in the Northern Continent is relatively scattered and seems to lack a reasonable layout, which is why it is "hated by everyone".
But if it were in the Southern Continent, apart from the Church of the True God, no one would be willing to be enemies with this group of lunatics known as the "Indulgence Faction".
Audrey, codenamed "Justice," was naturally very interested: "Oh? Tell me more about it."
"I believe you should realize that I am an extraordinary individual through the 'Prisoner' pathway," Raphael said. "My advancement to Sequence 8 trait comes from the leader of the Skull Party."
"After I killed the Skull Gang leader, a 'werewolf' named Bevan approached me and said that the Skull Gang was actually a gang they supported. They admired my crazy spirit and wanted to support me to become the leader of the Skull Gang."
"At that time, I only had two choices: either be killed by him, or provide them with intelligence, funds and manpower from time to time."
"It took me several meetings to learn that he was actually a formal member of the 'Indulgence Faction'."
Raphael took a drag of his cigarette, then said with a half-smile, "How should I put it? It's not a big deal if they let loose a little, but their frequent brainless behavior makes them a rare bunch of pig-like teammates."
"With teammates like this, I'm sure I'll die a horrible death someday."
"I really want to get rid of them, so I can take you to Bevin and take him out."
Audrey was somewhat disappointed: "Take down a Sequence 7..."
Raphael raised his hand: "I haven't finished yet. After killing Bevan, even if the members of the Indulgence Faction are stupid, the forces in Backlund will conduct some investigation. They will likely send out members at Sequence 6... well, it's possible they will send out members at Sequence 5."
"And as Bevin's subordinate, they'll definitely come to me to find out what's going on. Then you can take them out, which will severely damage the 'Indulgence Faction'!"
Audrey was stunned: Why do I feel a little sorry for the "indulgence faction" members in charge of Backlund affairs?
