Chapter 148 The Mask Fell Off
Chapter 148 The Mask Fell Off
Three days later, Uchiha Ye got up early and left the room, which really surprised Yamato. "Did the sun rise in the west?"
"No, he came out from the east as usual," she replied somewhat irritably. "By the way, where did Itachi go?"
"I don't know, they went out early this morning." Yamato shook his head.
"Today is the last game, I hope nothing bad will happen!" The thought made her restless.
Upon hearing this, Yamato thought to himself, "How could Uchiha Itachi possibly be in any danger?" The thought of being controlled by Itachi's genjutsu made him even more depressed. Seeing Ye's anxious expression, he couldn't bring himself to say anything.
"Yamato, I'll go out and look for them. You stay here."
"Here, take this. Send it out as soon as you have any messages."
She handed Dahe a signal flare and hurried towards the door, saying, "We won three million today, how can we just disappear?"
As soon as she stepped out the door, Uchiha Ha saw Itachi walking towards her.
"Ye, you're awake. I just bought breakfast."
Uchiha Ye glanced at the things in Itachi's hands and exclaimed, "Wow, he bought all of her favorite foods."
"Itachi, so you went to buy breakfast early this morning. I'm hungry." Yamato came out of the room after hearing the noise outside. He saw what Itachi was holding, looked at it for a moment, and then picked up a large meat bun and started eating.
Itachi frowned. "Forget it, I won't stoop to his level."
He swallowed back what he was about to say and instead presented the food to Ye as if it were a treasure, offering it to her for her to choose from.
Seeing Itachi's constipated expression, Uchiha Ye burst out laughing, "What a lively Itachi, so interesting."
The three of them walked together, eating as they went, towards the competition venue.
Upon arriving at the betting area, Uchiha Ye decisively divided his money into three portions and placed bets on each portion.
Yamato watched Uchiha Ha's movements and said, "Ha, you're putting a lot of pressure on me."
"If we lose..." He didn't finish his sentence.
"If you lose, you have to pay." She said with a smile without even lifting her eyelids. "Oh, right, there's one more chance. If you face me or Itachi, then you won't have to pay."
Yamato's eyes lit up, and the pressure instantly disappeared. "If that's the case, he still has a pretty good chance of winning against other ninjas."
"Three million, he's here."
They arrived at their destination and didn't have to wait long before the third overtime round of the Chunin Exams began on time.
"I am Ye Cang, the proctor for this round!"
"I now declare the competition open."
When Uchiha saw Yekura, he couldn't help but recall her tragic death. "Such a beautiful woman, it's such a shame she died."
Sometimes she really felt that the decisions made by the Kage of each village were just crazy, sending out a ninja to quell their anger at the drop of a hat. "No, she has to find a chance to remind them."
Even if all else fails, going to the Land of Fire seems like a good option. It would be such a waste for such a powerful ninja to die like this; he would be better off working for the Flower Spirit.
Yekura noticed Uchiha Ye's eyes, which alternated between regret and excitement, and felt completely bewildered.
Uchiha Ye realized he was being too obvious and immediately composed himself.
The first round of matches began quickly, but to her surprise, Yamato was the first to go on stage. Their three-person team was taking turns going first.
"Go for it, Yamato! Your odds are the highest. My fortune depends on you." She reminded him earnestly, then turned and left the field with Itachi.
Ye Cang stood in front of the two, gestured with his hands, and said, "Begin!"
Uchiha Ye looked at the battle below, his mind filled with questions.
Besides Granny Chiyo, Sasori of the Red Sand, and Kankuro, how come there are other ninjas in Sunagakure who use puppets? Could this game have just made them up?
This Sand Ninja is quite well hidden; we haven't seen him use puppetry before. If Yamato doesn't use Wood Release, his chances of winning are really slim.
"Huh... Yamato seems to have gone astray, secretly setting up so many dirty tricks." Uchiha Ye laughed when she saw Yamato's actions, "It seems like he can win without Wood Release!" She would never admit that she was the one who led him astray.
This battle immediately lifted the spirits of the people in the stands; as expected, everyone loves this kind of plot twist.
"Wow, Yamato is amazing."
"I was prepared to lose all my money, but I didn't expect you to be so capable."
"I'll share half of the winnings with you," she said with a smile.
The next second, Uchiha Ye saw the name on the screen, and his smile instantly froze: "Uchiha Ye vs. Lone Star!"
"It really is poisonous!"
"What you don't want comes to pass."
Itachi seemed to sense her emotional fluctuation. "Ye, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, I was just thinking about which ninjutsu to use."
"I'm going down now." She smiled and disappeared from where she stood, reappearing on the competition field.
Yecang glanced at the two of them and announced the start.
The two stood in silence. Uchiha Ye used a telepathic technique to say, "Why didn't you show up at the time we agreed to meet last time?"
A hint of guilt flashed across Lone Star's face, but fortunately, he was wearing a mask so it wasn't noticeable. "Something came up, and you weren't there when I got there."
"Really? But I've waited all day and haven't seen you." Uchiha Ye was even more puzzled.
"I went there at dawn," Gu Xing replied telepathically, without batting an eye.
"Do you think I'd believe that?" Uchiha Ye stared at her and continued telepathically, "You haven't been doing something behind my back, have you?"
"That's not true," Gu Xing retorted instinctively.
But her behavior only made Uchiha Yo feel that she had something to hide.
The two communicated telepathically, appearing to outsiders to be observing their opponent.
At this moment, the crowd on the viewing platform began to urge, "What's going on with these two? Why haven't they started yet?"
Their eyes met briefly, and Lone Star asked telepathically first, "Do you use a sword?"
"I'll use a short blade this time."
Lone Star glanced at the short blade at her waist. "Isn't this too much of a bullying?"
Uchiha Ye raised an eyebrow. "Let's just have a simple weapon-fighting contest this time!"
"you sure?"
“You haven’t been learning this short blade technique for very long, have you? If you lose and return to the real world, you’ll have to control my body for three days.” Lone Star immediately made a bet.
“No problem!” Uchiha Ye readily agreed.
The moment the words were spoken, the two attacked simultaneously.
The sword in Lone Star's hand was like a white snake spitting its tongue, hissing and cutting through the wind, and like a dragon weaving through the air, moving freely around him. Sometimes he was as light as a swallow, rising up with a flick of his sword, and sometimes he was as swift as lightning, causing leaves to fall in a flurry.
Uchiha Ye's short blade was equally formidable; it seemed to come alive in her hands, dancing with her every move, each attack precisely targeting Gu Xing's vital points.
The two exchanged blows, neither giving an inch, and for a moment the battlefield was filled with the clashing of sword energy and flashing blades.
The spectators on stage were stunned; they had never seen weapons produce such an effect.
Apart from a few Jonin, the others couldn't see them at all. They could only vaguely understand how fierce their fight was from the crisscrossing sword and knife marks on the ground.
With a 'snap', the mask on Lone Star's face fell off.
Uchiha Yoh sheathed his short sword. "You lost."
"It's really not surprising at all, you." Lone Star knew that winning against the main body wouldn't be easy, so he directly admitted defeat and turned to leave.
Upon seeing this, Yekura immediately declared Uchiha Yekura the winner.
The Lone Star Mask fell off, causing many people to gasp in surprise. Although she was slightly inferior to Uchiha Ye, she was a truly stunning beauty. Wearing red did not suppress her beauty; on the contrary, it made her even more beautiful, like a flame, fiery and irresistible.
At fifteen or sixteen, she was in the prime of her life; who wouldn't be captivated by such a beauty?
It can only be said that Uchiha Ye lost because he was still young, came from Konoha Village, and belonged to the Uchiha clan. Ordinary people would not dare to even dream of him, but Lone Star was different.
