Chapter 386 The Dark Side of Heroes
Has Minister Fauci gone mad?!
Even after returning to her office, Loila still couldn't believe what she had just heard in the principal's office.
Dementors?!
This is a very scary creature! Loila grew up listening to her father tell stories about Dementors, such as how eating broccoli would attract Dementors if she didn't eat it properly, or how not studying hard would attract Dementors.
Now you're telling me Dementors are coming to Hogwarts!
This absolutely does not mean—it means Loila is afraid! I—I'm not afraid!
Loila's pointed ears trembled slightly, and her hand holding the cup also shook gently.
Dementors are so scary! They feed on human emotions and stuff — they look terrifying — the only cute thing about them is that they can't talk — but even Loila can't convince herself not to be afraid of Dementors based on that.
However, Royla's fear of Dementors might stem not only from some kind of trauma left by her father's childhood, but also from her inability to use the Patronus Charm.
Well, it's interesting to say—as a silent witch, Loila can unleash all spells in the form of silent incantations, but this does not include the Guardian Charm.
During her five years in Durmstrang, she never learned the Patronus Charm—after all, learning the Patronus Charm is a bit too difficult, isn't it?
Other spells only require you to wave your wand—but the Patronus Charm requires you to think of something happy.
Happy things — Back in Durmstrang, Loila put in a lot of effort to learn the Patronus Charm. She used several sheets of draft paper to analyze what the happiest things were.
Learning magic circles with Dad? Playing the harmonica with Mom? Getting your first wand? Meeting Muller? Practicing silent spells with Muller?
Unfortunately, no matter what she tried, these didn't seem to be the happiest things, at least not for the Guardian Spell.
Therefore, she will not be able to use the Guardian Spell.
This is terrifying—even Voldemort, Royla dares to say she can fight him, but Dementors—is there any difference between fighting a Dementor without a Patronus Charm and a human fighting fire?
Why didn't Dumbledore and the others stop Minister Fudge?! Okay, Dumbledore did try—but Karkaroff was very supportive—and Minister Fudge even guaranteed that the Dementors wouldn't enter the school—
Well then, is that alright?
Loila took a deep breath, but felt no relaxation whatsoever.
"What's wrong, Loila?" Nagini, who appeared out of nowhere, leaned against Loila, her face, which was somewhat aloof, was full of curiosity.
"Didn't you just go to receive your award?" she chuckled. "The great hero, Loila—"
"A...a great hero?!" Loila was startled by the word. "That's a bit too...too exaggerated!"
"It's not an exaggeration at all," Nagini said, placing a finger on Loila's forehead. "You've saved so many people."
"Many students at Hogwarts call you that now," she said, blinking as if she remembered something. "Not only that, but quite a few students have even joined the Pinecone Party."
"Ah—I—" Loila stammered for a few seconds, unsure of what to say.
The students are really something —
However, while the "great hero" thing might be a bit cliché, it's still—quite impressive—
"But to be honest, I don't want you to be some kind of great hero," Nagini said in a low voice, then lowered his head slightly and pressed his forehead against Loila's ear.
"Naji—Miss Ni?"
"After all, being a hero is too dangerous, isn't it?" Nagini said, as if she had thought of something, "Promise me—don't do such dangerous things next time—"
"Actually, it's not really dangerous—" Loila explained softly, "I just used the Space Extension Book—"
"Is your space-expanding book still usable?"
"Hmm—" Loila glanced at the book on the table, which was already a little charred, and pursed her lips.
"Loila—please promise me." Nagini's tone suddenly became a little—strange? And her hands had somehow wrapped around Loila from behind.
"Promise me—don't do those hero-like things." She continued, "I've seen—I've seen far too many people like that."
"Some of them are alive—Dumbledore, Newt—"
“Some people have left me forever—Credence—Theseus—” she said, her voice trailing off. “So Loila, not just for yourself.”
"And for my sake—for your friends' sake—don't try to be a hero next time."
"Haven't you done enough for Dumbledore?"
"Hmm————" Listening to Miss Nagini's words, Loila felt a warmth in her heart, especially the last sentence—well, the second to last sentence as well.
"I—I understand," Loila said, twitching her ears. "I will—I will do it."
"That would be best."
"Hmm—" Loira lowered her head guiltily. If Luna were here, she would definitely pinch her ears again—Loira could certainly do that without being a hero—but dangerous things—
She is now one of the most dangerous people at Hogwarts—after all, apart from her, no one should be thinking of killing two of the three headmasters, right?
So it seems that even great heroes have a dark side.
"It's all that damn Hamilton's fault—" In a dark corner, two people were talking in hushed tones.
"If it weren't for her—Harry Potter would have become the master's power—" he said softly, looking at the short man in front of him: "Peter—you should understand what the master means, right?!"
"Of course I understand—of course I understand—what my great master means—" the man called Peter said obsequiously, "I will obey all of my master's arrangements!"
"Then do it properly—" another person sneered, "The blood of our enemies—"
"You can't even finish such a simple task?" he said, his tone tinged with anger. "Don't think I don't know—"
Tell me your thoughts.
"You're like a mouse, or rather, you *are* a mouse—hoping to stay in a pocket until you die?"
"Let me remind you—there are people busy killing you right now." He sneered. "You'd better prove your worth."
"Otherwise—the master might actually consider exchanging you for the Black family." He said, flicking his robe, and then strode away.
As he left, the man called Peter trembled and huddled in the corner, then slowly—disappeared into the shadows.
"Crunch~"
A mouse missing a finger scurried out from the corner; it seemed he had overheard the entire conversation.
