Chapter 155, Section 52: The Crazy Underground Amusement Park
Joining a gang may be the only means of resistance for the people of Gotham, but the top-level producers are always outside the range of guns and bullets, and it is always ordinary people who are affected by the firepower.
Convenience store clerks, shopping mall security guards, or armored truck guards, driven by the need to make a living, are forced to work alongside the producers, only to be pushed to the front lines of the war, becoming live targets of their own people and victims of internal strife.
Qin Wei thought he was the first rebel to effectively organize manpower and touch the interests of the ultimate producers, but someone else had done it before him.
His archenemy, Joseph Cole, the former leader of the Red Hood gang.
Batman and the Joker are two sides of the same coin, but before they were driven mad, they had both walked the same path.
In the early morning, Robinson Park was shrouded in darkness. A fierce, cold wind lashed Qin Wei's face, and the withered tree trunks rustled as they shook.
Shining a flashlight, Qin Wei trudged through the snow, his steps uneven, until he reached the Wayne Brothers sculpture.
The brothers Joshua Wayne and Solomon Wayne were highly respected in Gotham. As an abolitionist, the former became an inside agent for the Union Army in the South, and secretly transported nearly 500,000 black slaves to the North through Gotham's underground railroad.
After gaining their freedom in the North, many of these enslaved people joined the army, which hastened the end of the war.
The latter is a renowned federal judge in Gotham City who brought a brief period of justice to Gotham before the clutches of the Owl Court spread throughout the city.
The reason these two statues stand here is primarily to commemorate Joshua.
The original starting point of that underground railroad was right at the foot of the statue, where there was also a huge underground cavern, originally used to hide freed slaves. Before Thomas Wayne died, he planned to transform the cavern into the Wayne Brothers Memorial, partly to commemorate his ancestors, and partly because the large-scale project could revitalize Gotham's stagnant economy.
However, with the gunshots in Crime Alley, the project, which had just begun, came to a standstill. Until six months ago, Falcone won the construction rights to the abandoned railway in Robinson Park. The old lion was preparing to transform the huge underground space into an amusement park based on Thomas's work.
The project is now nearing completion and will be ready for use in a few more months.
Qin Wei entered through the amusement park entrance behind the statue and followed the narrow spiral staircase deep into the underground railway.
"There are no more security cameras in the tunnel. You're on your own now. Be very careful," the hacker's warning came through the earpiece.
"Thank you. Would you like to go out for a meal together after this is all over?"
Qin Wei has sent me an invitation to a dinner party. Would you like to accept?
"what?"
Mr. Hacker was quite surprised by this.
"Was that too abrupt?"
"No, no, no, it's just a bit unexpected." After thinking it over, Mr. Hacker cleared his throat. "Then I'll agree, but the dining place can't be a bar."
"Because minors can't get in?"
Qin Wei's casual stab completely silenced the opponent.
The clown's brow furrowed in surprise when he heard the alarm at the entrance that someone had broken in.
In his plan, Qin Wei, who was being chased by the claws, could not possibly arrive so quickly.
His game area was only half-set up.
Did he know that the claws would come after him and make preparations in advance?
The clown bit his finger and leaned against the wall, deep in thought.
"Unless he's seen Thomas Jr., but that's impossible. Thomas Jr. should be in the hospital trying to wake Jason right now. That's the only explanation!" The Joker almost burst out laughing, seemingly having thought of something funny. Luckily, he covered his mouth in time, preventing the ear-piercing laughter from spreading through the empty underground fortress.
"You guessed it! You must have guessed my abilities, but it's no use, my dear! As long as the Joker is still here, the will of the world will lift you up! This world must have a Batman."
"Even though it's not fully set up yet, the amusement park still has to open its doors to visitors, right?"
As the clown pulled the main power switch on the wall, the amusement park lights came on one by one, from near to far.
The carousel began to spin to the accompaniment of electronic music; the giant pirate ship started working under the pull of electricity, and as its swing amplitude increased, the whistling wind rushed through the cave; the Ferris wheel, which had not yet been fitted with cabins, began to turn alone, and it was said that if a couple in love had the courage to ride it while hanging from the metal bar, they would stay together for life.
Of course, an amusement park wouldn't be complete without its highlight: roller coasters.
And it was also a big gift that the clown had prepared for Qin Wei.
After detailed calculations, Joseph removed all the bulletproof steel plates from the two school buses and installed roller coaster wheels, so that the lighter buses could run safely on the track.
As for why it's "should," it's because even the Joker wouldn't dare guarantee that everything would go perfectly.
Even after weight reduction, school buses are still much heavier than roller coasters.
Rather than expecting a madman with no morals or bottom line to be perfect in every way, you'd be better off hoping that Falcone didn't cut corners when building the roller coaster track!
The clown frantically pounded on the school bus windows to wake the unconscious children, while announcing the rules of the game to Qin Wei through the microphone.
"Hahaha, darling, welcome to the second half of the game!"
"I call it the Gordon-style trial version! But don't worry, because it involves children, there won't be any blush-inducing indecent photos, but don't think that will make the game easier!"
"Just like before, there's a bomb hidden in the vehicle. It will explode once the speed drops below 50 mph as it goes down the slope. But to make it easier for you, this is the only condition for the explosion; in other words, you can rescue the children one by one."
"But there are always trade-offs. You'll see when you walk in later that the second loop of the roller coaster isn't even finished yet!!!!"
"I was originally supposed to repair this track myself, but you arrived early, so the game has to start earlier! Darling, you didn't expect that your early arrival would make things much more difficult for yourself."
"This rule wasn't originally in place, but now whenever a minecart reaches the broken ring, it will fall and explode with a loud bang! Go!"
Oh my god! Haha ...
The clown's deafening laughter, loud enough to pierce the eyes, ended with the buzzing of the loudspeaker. But Qin Wei had no time to plug his ears. The moment he heard the rules of the game, he took off running along the abandoned railway into the depths of the cave.
Time was so tight that he didn't even have time to catch his breath while supporting his knees. The roller coaster was gradually accelerating, and amidst the child's cries and pounding on the glass, the final game began.
