Chapter 43 Beast Taming Family
Chapter 43 Beast Taming Family
"Phew... thankfully we arrived in time..."
Looking at the giant monster crawling in front of him, Persson breathed a sigh of relief.
Just as he had predicted, the young wizard, who had no combat experience, was completely powerless against the well-trained giant.
If he hadn't noticed the unusual commotion in time, and given that upperclassmen in Gryffindor generally like to court death and are thick-skinned so much that taking a beating wouldn't be a big deal, what happened today would have been hard to cover up.
"You are... Poisson?!"
Harry looked up in a daze. As a fellow first-year student, he naturally knew of Persephone's name. However, the two had no interaction. He only paid attention to this rumored strongest Slytherin freshman when he was arguing with Malfoy, to guard against his sneak attacks.
So, why is he here?
Why was the troll crawling at his feet?
Harry's mind was a mess, while Persson offered a hastily put-together explanation: "Our family is very skilled at animal taming and often helps Gringotts tame wild trolls. Hearing that trolls were appearing at the school, we decided to give it a try."
"It seems to be working well."
The results are good?
Harry looked up at the troll, whose face was beaming with a smile that bordered on obsequiousness, and thought to himself, "This is more than just nice! It's practically hypnotic!"
Is this really an effect that animal taming techniques can produce?
"Oh my God!"
With a burst of hurried footsteps, the battle that had broken out in the corridor had clearly caught the attention of the professors. Professor McGonagall was running at the front, and looking at the young wizards lying haphazardly on the ground, she almost fainted.
She drew her wand with a swift motion, her eyes flashing with cold fury, but Dumbledore managed to stop her hand in time.
"Relax, Minerva, the situation is under control, the children are fine."
Upon hearing this, Professor McGonagall's agitated mood finally calmed down. She noticed that although the young wizards were in a sorry state, they were only lying on the ground howling and had not suffered any real harm.
At Hogwarts, as long as someone is still alive, they can be back to normal the next day after being taken to the school hospital; a few broken ribs are not considered injuries.
Meanwhile, the culprit behind everything—the troll—was squatting in the far corner of the corridor, looking rather aggrieved.
Before Professor McGonagall could figure out what was going on, she suddenly noticed that there were actually some fearless little wizards standing next to the troll!
"Harry! Persephone! Get out of the way!"
Professor McGonagall called out anxiously, and Harry instinctively shrank back, as if he had been caught doing something wrong, while Persson patted the troll's arm.
"Don't worry, Professor McGonagall, everything has been taken care of."
Seeing Persson's bold move, McGonagall's heart trembled, and a thought involuntarily surfaced in her mind: why wasn't Persson sorted into Gryffindor?
He's so reckless!
Fortunately, the scene that was expected, where the two were smashed flat by the troll's club, did not happen. Just as Persson said, the matter was resolved. The troll remained motionless, as obedient as a house-elf!
"What's going on here...?"
Before Professor McGonagall could get a response, another series of footsteps approached rapidly. Snape was in the lead, followed by a trembling Quirrell and anxious Hermione and Ron.
"They've held out longer than I expected," Snape said, launching into his usual sarcastic remark as he looked at the Gryffindors scattered on the ground. "I thought these idiots wouldn't even last one blow, but they still have the energy to wail..."
Hearing Snape's undisguised sarcasm, the Gryffindor lion cubs blushed, but were powerless to refute him.
After all, they really couldn't withstand even one blow.
Professor McGonagall, however, couldn't help but defend herself, saying, "It's not the children's fault; no one expected the trolls to suddenly appear here."
"Thirteen students..." Snape ignored Professor McGonagall's explanation. His tone was cold, like that of a ruthless executioner, slowly reciting the final execution declaration.
"Thirteen students in total, excluding Potter and Persson, who are both freshmen, the rest are at least fifth-year students, yet you couldn't even handle a troll. Was your Defense Against the Dark Arts class a waste of time?"
"This troll is something else!" Percy, who was lying on the ground, couldn't help but defend himself. He thought that with his strength and knowledge, he could easily deal with a troll, but he didn't expect that this troll would not play by the rules!
"Mr. Weasley, with your dim-witted little brain, is it really so hard for you to understand that what's in books can be different from reality?"
Snape made no attempt to hide the sarcasm in his tone, and Percy's ears turned as red as if they were about to bleed.
Dumbledore stepped in to smooth things over, saying, "Professor Quirrell, please take all the injured students to the infirmary first. Mr. Harry, Mr. Persson, could you please explain what happened?"
Harry immediately stepped forward and began recounting his and Ron's search for Hermione (Professor McGonagall: "You should have informed the professor first!"), while Persson continued to fabricate his so-called family of animal trainers (Snape: "Eleven senior Gryffindors need a Slytherin freshman to save them, how ridiculous!"), and Dumbledore remained silent throughout.
He had already discussed it with Persson and was well aware of Persson's underhanded dealings in the Forbidden Forest, so he had no reason to expose Persson's lie.
"It seems the matter has been resolved satisfactorily?"
Dumbledore said with a smile, his words almost instantly provoking Professor McGonagall's displeasure.
"Perfect?" Professor McGonagall's eyes widened, her nose flaring. "A dangerous giant breached the school's defenses, nearly killing thirteen junior wizards, and we don't even know who did it!"
"Headmaster Dumbledore, this is far from perfect!"
"Calm down, Minerva. Professor Dumbledore has his reasons for doing this," Snape said, seemingly speaking up for Dumbledore but actually stirring up trouble. "As for what those reasons are, the great Dumbledore doesn't want you to know, and asking won't do you any good."
"Dumbledore!"
Professor McGonagall looked like a panting kitten, while Dumbledore could only smile helplessly.
"I'm sorry, Minerva, I can't tell you the reasons right now, but I assure you that something like this will never happen again."
"Mr. Persson, now that you have the troll under control, please send it to the Forbidden Forest to prevent any further accidents."
Dumbledore winked at Persson, who immediately obeyed, kicking the troll's rear end to signal it to follow.
Professor McGonagall's wand was still held upright in front of her chest. She had never heard of magic that could control trolls, let alone magic performed by a first-year student.
But the giant monster actually followed obediently, bowing and scraping, and even helped Persson push the door open!
As gentle as a puppy...
