Chapter 1871 - 1868: Vanished (Part 2)
The anomaly Xu Feibai mentioned was the last two beams of red light from the blood moon, where previously there was only one beam, so the last two were somewhat unusual.
"Should we tell Sister Luoxi?" Xiao Manxuan asked again.
Lin Tian shook his head: "No need, Luoxi is very busy now." Actually, he wanted to say that Luoxi’s condition wasn’t suitable for intense fighting, but if he said so, the little girl would surely worry.
"Mr. Xiao, class is starting..." the teacher from the volleyball court shouted over.
Xiao Manxuan waved her little hand at Lin Tian and turned around, running back.
"You seem to have left words unsaid," Xu Feibai saw something and asked.
Actually, Xiao Manxuan, being clever, knew there was danger in the journey. She just didn’t say it aloud. Lin Tian turned and continued walking, leaving behind a casual remark: "You’ll know when you get there, I guarantee you’ll be satisfied." A mischievous smile flickered in his eyes.
Grabbing the soccer ball, Xu Feibai continued playing his role as the physical education teacher. Lin Tian attended class as usual. No one knew what big plans the two had discussed.
Until the physical education class ended, Lin Tian still didn’t talk to Xu Feibai about any details. They each returned. Only they dared to delve into Dragon-locking Well without a plan.
Saturday morning, although Mid-Autumn has passed, there was not much chill yet. The autumn sky was clear, and the sunlight remained bright.
This time Lin Tian didn’t prepare any diving equipment but brought a waterproof bag containing a clean set of clothes. He and Xu Feibai were both zombies, and there was no need for breathing underwater. Last time, the diving gear was just to prevent Ning Luoxi from noticing.
Throwing the only item into the trunk, Lin Tian drove away from the apartment complex under Xiao Manxuan’s watchful eyes. At the school gate, Xu Feibai had been waiting. Once Xu got in the car, Lin Tian accelerated away.
"Until now, you haven’t told me where the Ice Soul was found, or how far it is?" Once far from the school, Xu Feibai asked.
"Not far, it’s in the city, Beixinqiao." Lin Tian answered promptly this time.
"In the city?" Xu Feibai was taken aback, then urgently asked: "Which direction is Beixinqiao?"
Unfamiliar with Jinghua City, Lin Tian checked the map and said: "Southeast direction from Jinghua University, just a few blocks away."
"Southeast direction?" Xu Feibai was taken aback again, then frowned: "That day the blood moon emitted two red beams, one was precisely to the southeast!"
Lin Tian raised an eyebrow, looking surprised: "Could it be such a coincidence?"
Xu Feibai’s expression was not good, his face solemn: "Many coincidences have their inherent causal relationships, my intuition feels worse."
"Why is a big man learning women’s intuition? What’s done is done, and worrying now is useless. To quote you, many things also have inherent causal relationships." Lin Tian was open-minded, of course, he was not worried, as he wasn’t the one planning to resurrect Jiang Chen.
Xu Feibai stopped speaking, lost in thought. Lin Tian shook his head quietly, focused on driving. Despite Beixinqiao being not far, about twenty kilometers, it took Lin Tian half an hour due to Jinghua City’s notoriously bad traffic, with more cars than people.
Finding a parking spot near the bridge, Lin Tian and Xu Feibai each slung on their waterproof bags and walked. Beside Beixinqiao stood an ancient temple, with the entrance to Dragon-locking Well inside.
Strangely, not far from Beixinqiao were towering buildings, yet near the ancient temple, skyscrapers vanished. Even fewer structures stood, as if there was a reason preventing developers from building around the temple.
Most businessmen believe in Feng Shui, and there have been ancient tales about Dragon-locking Well. The Feng Shui, not good, is even stirring with Evil Qi as it seals the Evil Dragon. Developers likely avoided building near the temple due to this.
Feng Shui is such an elusive concept, no businessman wants to gamble with their fortune.
With fewer tall buildings, the area around the temple felt desolate, rarely did anyone pass by. Moreover, the temple’s gate was shut tight, devoid of incense.
For Lin Tian, being the second time here, he was familiar with the territory. Leading Xu Feibai, he deftly vaulted into the temple courtyard. In the backyard stood a heavy iron manhole cover, beneath which lay the entrance to Dragon-locking Well.
"Dragon-locking Well..." Seeing the engraving on the cover, Xu Feibai was mildly surprised: "The Ice Soul was obtained from below?"
The situation surprised Xu Feibai, as despite the low visitor count, surely some have been here. How could such a large Ice Soul Coffin remain hidden? If there were no coffin, fine, but if there were, surely someone would have removed it.
Lin Tian smiled, saying: "I know what you’re concerned about. Dragon-locking Well is more complex than you think. You’ll know once we go down."
He offered no further explanation, pulling the manhole cover aside with ease, though its weight exceeded five hundred pounds, moving it was merely a fingertip affair for Lin Tian.
With the cover removed, a rush of moisture greeted them, feeling a chill.
"I’ll go down first, follow me." Lin Tian instructed, gripping the massive iron chain as he descended the well. Xu Feibai had no choice but to follow, abandoning his uneasy feeling.
Once inside, Xu Feibai used a hand to support and reseal the manhole cover, obscuring their entry from outsiders. Once the cover sealed, the well plunged into darkness.
Nonetheless, Lin Tian was unaffected, carrying his waterproof bag as he quickly descended along the chain, soon reaching the water’s surface. The chain stretched deep into the well’s water.
"Later we’ll follow the chain; it’s all underwater tunnels, but initially, there won’t be any danger." Lin Tian reminded once more before diving into the water.
Both clutched the chain for support, darting like torpedoes. Since he didn’t need to care for Ning Luoxi’s pace, Lin Tian sped ahead with ease, breezing through the previously long and winding water passage.
With a strong kick from below, Lin Tian breached the water surface successfully, followed closely by Xu Feibai, entering the Underground River.
As Xu Feibai took in the surroundings, amazement took over. The Underground River maintained highly original geological structures, feeling as though transported back to a primitive era.
"Now you can relax, this place has only been accessed by Ning Luoxi and me. If the Ice Soul Coffin is in the Underground Cave, we will find it." Lin Tian offered comfort, easing Xu Feibai’s expression.
Though thinking of what lies ahead, Lin Tian’s lips curved into an amused smile. He didn’t linger and accelerated onward, darting swiftly along the Underground River.
Soon, the sound of rushing water became apparent. Turning a corner, a waterfall and a pool came into view. As they reached the pool, Xu Feibai frowned, looking solemn: "There’s an intense aura here."
